| Award−winning comedy duo Straitjacket, otherwise known as Tom Bennett and Ian Todd, formed in 2003 when they began writing and filming sketches in their native North East.
Who writes the material?
The material is written by Tom and Ian.
Where do you get your soundtrack music from?
The music is sourced from mainly local unsigned talent.
How does a sketch end up on the screen?
Tom and Ian will pitch small ideas to each other and if they both like them, they will be developed into a script. Usually the person who has the idea will write the first draft of the script.
Do you try and use your comedy to promote any political or societal views?
We never intend to raise any issues like that, but some have commented that out material reflects certain societal behaviours.
Where do you film your sketches?
Our sketches are filmed in the North East area in and around Sunderland and Newcastle.
What's this whole thing about America?
Bob Odenkirk (Mr Show, Saturday Night Live) discovered our material on YouTube and set about trying to raise our profile in the States and help us with projects here in the UK. We are currently developing a sketch pilot with him.
Why don't you perform live?
We started to film our scripts that we had written because it was the easiest way to convey best how we wanted the sketches to look. We still see ourselves mainly as writers but enjoy seeing our sketches on video.
Can I send you material or act in your sketches?
Although its superb to hear from you, please don't send us any comedy ideas or sketches in case of a conflict of interest.
How do I book Straitjacket?
We are always happy for our material to be screened at different events. If you want to use our material, please contact us.
