31st May 2007 - ALL HAIL THE ROLLING MAN
New sketches on site

StraitJacket have just updated the multimedia section of the website with three brand new video sketches. One documents the bizzare behaviour of an obsessive father, another investigates the desire of young son to become an inanimate object and finally the other is an unusual hobby.

9th May 2007 - NOT YET A WRITE-OFF
Another direction

StraitJacket have embarked on a new direction in their comedy careers, putting the camera to one side and investing all of their time in writing a brand new TV sketch show pilot. The process will see new characters and sketches never before conceived. In the meantime, the previous filmed sketches will be uploaded to the site in due course.

StraitJacket have been very busy since 2007 dawned on us as there has been alot of filming and writing going on. As an example of what we've been up to we'd like to share a small snippet of a new character with you. 'Quiet Man' can now be found in the Video section of the site. Enjoy!

3rd April 2007 - SJ GO STATIONARY
Sketch beamed in station

If you're traveling on the Metro through Gateshead Interchange over the next few weeks, keep an eye out for the StraitJacket sketch: 'Russ Abbott'.
The sketch will be beamed in the station onto a wall between the platform and ticket concourse as a part of a series of short films from 7am to 7pm daily until April 14. Meanwhile StraitJacket continue to keep very busy writing and filming brand new material.

15th March 2007 - PRESSING MATTERS
SJ Update

Straitjacket continue to work tirelessly behind the scenes writing and filming brand new material. Two filming days are scheduled for this month with another possibly in the pipeline before Easter. Meanwhile new behind the scenes and press photos have been added to the site.

16th February 2007 - SITE REVAMP

You may have noticed already but Straitjacketcomedy.com has abit of a face lift. This includes new sections such as Meet the Members and biography pages. In addition other sections have been given a new fresh look such as the easily accessible dates page. Take a look around and see what you think!

USA Show nearly here

San Francisco's Comedy Sketch festival is underway and Straitjacket's screening will be happening in just 2 days. The show, introduced by Bob Odenkirk will be featuring new and existing material to the all-American crowd. Meanwhile the About, Behind the scenes and Multimedia section have been updated.

Over 13,000 visitors clicked onto StraitjacketComedy.com in 2006 and we'd like to extend our gratitude and thanks for your continued support. Since the site was launched in January 2004, it has attracted over 25,000 visitors and continued to grow and develop. More exciting plans are in the pipeline for the website so watch this cyberspace!

3rd January 2007 - NEW YEAR, NEW SKETCHES
New sketches from Straitjacket

Straitjacket have added a trio of new sketches to the site this month to kick off the new year. As the group continue to develop material for the American pilot, as well as featuring in San Francisco's Sketchfest event, the newly added sketches illustrate the continuing development and growth of the comedy trio.

Straitjacket are currently writing, planning and working on new material for their up and coming Pilot, this of course means a new soundtrack! So do you have a piece of music that'll suit SJ's brand of comedy down to the ground? If so feel free to let us know!! 18th December 2006 - SAN FRAN JACKET!
SJ hit the SF SketchFest!

Straitjacket will once again be hitting screens in America, this time as part of 'Sketch Fest' comedy festival. The show will be part of a bill feauturing our friend, Bob Odenkirk and will run on the 26th of January from 8.30pm. Check the dates for more information.

30th November 2006 - WINNING JACKET
StraitJacket earn cash for classic!

Channel 4's comedy hunt website, 4Laughs, has recently announced that Straitjacket are the winners of its first competition, netting £250. The prize, which was awarded to the best comedy video, was thanks to Straitjacket's classic sketch, Walk Left. Visit the 4Laughs website here.

15th November 2006 - JUST WRITE FOR THE JACKETS
StraitJacket focus on pilot!

Straitjacket have recently got back to their writing roots in an effort to produce a brand new TV pilot show. The proposed half-hour episode will feature new extensions of existing popular characters and will have a unique personal element not before seen in a sketch show. Plans are underway to have the writing complete in the next few weeks, with filming hoping to start late this year, early 2007.

9th November 2006 - JUST FOR LAUGHS
StraitJacket material on website!

Straitjacket sketches have made there way to yet another comedy website in the form of Channel 4's comedy talent hunt, 4Laughs. The site, which includes a 'comedy ladder', aims to highlight the best comedy in the UK from video to scripts. You can view our material here.

6th November 2006 - MORE IN THE USA!
USA Show is a hit over the pond!

A 20 minute screening of Straitjacket's sketches has been very well recieved in the famous UCB Theater in Los Angeles. The show, presented by Bob and Naomi Odenkirk was a great success. More shows are in development. Meanwhile the latest show in the U.K. (Newcastle) was a huge success, filling the Tyneside cinema to capacity. Thanks to all who attended.

18th October 2006 - SELL OUT!!
Oh No!

Straitjacket's next show on October 22nd at the Tyneside Cinema has now SOLD OUT! The show features brand new sketches and will be part of the Newcastle-Gateshead Comedy Festival. The show starts at 8.30pm with the aftershow party at Bar Tokyo at 9.30pm. Click here for more info.

12th October 2006 - STRAITJACKET HIT AMERICA
Series of U.S dates

Straitjacket have formed a cross-Atlantic partnership with American comedy star Bob Odenkirk and his wife, professional comedy scout Naomi Odenkirk. The relationship has seen Straitjacket sketches screened in LA and now New York City. Already recieving a "fantastic response" Straitjacket hope their international appeal continues to spread. 2nd October 2006 - REELS MORE FILM

Guest director Chris Errington was at hand again as Straitjacket filmed more new sketches for their upcoming show on October 22nd at the Tyneside Cinema. Pictures from the weekend of filming as well as pictures from the Edinburgh trip can be downloaded now.

Ian from Straitjacket aka Telos is releasing a Free download single called Exit on September 25 backed a remix by Mood 4. The album Translucent is out October 9.It will be available around Newcastle and Sunderland in all of the really good record shops.

Straitjacket are featured in North East music magazine, Narc. Ian was interviewed about our past screenings, the Newcastle-Gateshead Comedy festival and the soundtrack. The magazine is free and can be collected from local music shops in Newcastle and Sunderland.

26th July 2006 - EDINBURGH WAITS
Second visit to Edinburgh festival

The Edinburgh Show, Straitjacket unLIVE! is just 10 days away. The nightly half hour screening, running between Augst 5th - 11th, will take place at 6.00pm in Lindsays Bar (Upstairs) on Brunswick Street. Entry is completely free! 20th July 2006 - STRAIT BACK FROM BORO
Successful Teeside Screening

The screening at the University of Teeside went down extremely well. The 15 minute show survived a technical hitch and prompted a great reception. The episode was shown with other local short films and formed part of a very successful evening. Watch out for the next event!

17th July 2006 - VIDEO KILLED THE RADIO STAR
Another national radio interview

BBC Radio Cleveland invited Straitjacket for a live interview broadcast last week, to promote their upcoming screening as part of the Concept Film Night in Middlesbrough, taking place tomorrow at 7.30. The interview can be downloaded now - and helps to increase the reputation of the growing comedy trio.
16th July 2006 - STRAITJACKET LIVE!
Edinburgh preview show proves a hit

Straitjacket made their fourth appearance at the Tyneside Digital Lounge with a debut screening of their Edinburgh preview show, Straitjacket unLIVE! The two episodes were very well recieved by the paying viewers, confirmed by the generous reception and applause on the evening. As the E4 show and the week long Edinbugh fringe approaches, the success of the screening is a great sign of things to come.
10th July 2006 - STRAITJACKET unLIVE!
Brand New sketch show from comedy trio

Straitjacket make their return to Newcastle with a brand new show entitled Straitjacket unLIVE! The 2 x 20 minute episodes will kick off from 8.30pm this Saturday at the Tyneside Cinemas Digital Lounge in Newcastle. The show is crammed with new characters and sketches as well as your favourites from the past. Entry is £3 and you are advised to arrive early to get a seat. Contains strong language.
5th July 2006 - TEESIDE TOUR
Straitjacket sketches to be screened in Boro

The Concepts film night site is up now at  Straitjacket will be screening a various mix of sketches at the University of Teeside's concept film night, which can be found at the Centuria Building at the University of Teesside. A selection of their surreal and bizarre sketches make up the 15 minute cmpilation due to start at 7.30pm on July 19th.
2nd July 2006 - STRAITJACKET GO MOBILE!
Featured films in International Festival

Straitjacket have been selected for the second time running from hundreds of entries to screen two new short films at the Super Shorts Film Festival. From July 12, you will be able to vote for the film you think should win and get it sent straight to your mobile. The screenings take place in London from Mon 17 - Fri 21 July. 28th June 2006 - THE FILMING BEGINS

Straitjacket's first TV writing debut is edgeing ever closer, when we were recently informed from the production company that filming had commenced. Details of the broadcast date are still to be announced, but early indications suggest the series to start this autumn.

One of the noticable things about Straitjacket's comedy is its use of original, local music. The music used in the forthcoming Newcastle and Edinburgh shows have been listed in the About section. Links to the respective bands have also been made available.
23rd June 2006 - LET'S GO MOBILE
2 films shortlisted for mobile phone comp

Straitjacket have had 2 short films shortlisted in the final 37 for the Super Shorts Film competition for mobile phones. Straitjacket now have  the chance to have "Sick on the Job" and "Parentline" selected in the last 5, and go on to win a prize. The films will be available to download onto your mobiles soon, and will be screened as part of the festival. Click here for more information.
21st June 2006 - BBC RADIO CLEVELAND
Studio interview at the BBC

Straitjacket will be on BBC Radio Cleveland on July 12 from 7pm-10pm. We will be discussing our work appearing at the concepts short film night in Middlesbrough on July 19. 5th June 2006 - THE STRAIT OUTDOORS
Outdoor screening for Straitjacket

Straitjacket will be showing our Edinburgh show at an outside arts day at Queens Park, Chesterfield, Derbyshire. The event involves a 20sqm outdoor screen, a bandstand for bands, marquees for open sessions in all creative areas - poetry/performing arts  and all kinds of wierd and wonderful stuff. A crowd of 3,000 - 5,000 people are expected. Check the dates sectin for more info.
28th May 2006 - THAT'S A RAP
Filming all done and dusted

Straitjacket have finished filming for their Newcastle show on July 15th. The final sketch was wrapped up on location in East Boldon - which involved a Ford focus and a lot of carefully co-ordinated driving. Fans will be pleased to hear the new show will mostly comprise brand new material! Make sure you see it by arriving early to the show. More details here.
21st May 2006 - ANOTHER STRAIT COMEDY FESTIVAL

Straitjacket will be taking part in the official Newcastle/Gateshead Comedy festival this autumn. There will be a screening at Tyneside Cinema's Digital Lounge on the last night of the festival - marking the 3rd year anniversary of Straitjacket. Straitjacket have recently had new press pictures taken by multimedia wizard Chris Errington. The pictures, shot over 3 locations, show Straitjacket in a new light. The set also features the exclusive new photo used to promote the upcoming Edinburgh screening in August.

BBC want bowl of Straitjacket Soup

New BBC comedy site, BBC Comedy Soup, has recently launched with Straitjacket taking an active part. The site, which allows users to submit comedy material for anyone to see, features ten of Straitjacket's classic sketches, and will be used to add some brand new material soon.

Video now available to stream

Now you can stream Straitjacket's video sketches online thanks to an overhaul of the multimedia section. Using YouTube, Straitjacket have enabled the visitors of its site to instantly see the sketches, with virtually no waiting. Users can still download the sketches in the various formates as before.
17th March 2006 - CHRISTOPHER GUEST
Guest director to return

Straitjacket would like to extend a big thank you to guest director Chris Errington for his work on 3 sketches last weekend. His talent and experience ensured the end results were a lot better than we could anticipate. Thankfully Chris has agreed to work on more sketches in the future.

13th March 2006 - LONDON CALLING
Back writing for E4 sketch show

Straitjacket are back writing with E4
Straitjacket have began writing again for a new E4 sketch show by BBC's 'Man Stroke Woman' producer Richard Webb. Objective Productions are behind the show and Straitjacket will continue to be involved in the writing process at their office in London until shooting starts later this year.

13th February 2006 - STRAIT BACK TO CHESTERFIELD
More screenings in Chesterfield

Straitjacket have been asked back to the Digital Corruptions night in Chesterfield on February 28 at 7.00pm. The show will consist of half an hour of sketches, with a question and answer session at the end. Our original show in January was a massive success.

Straitjacket would like to announce their second trip to the Edinburgh Festival this year with their new show, Straitjacket Unlive. It will be the same format as last year, comprising of a 30 minute video screening of sketches. It will feature all new material as well as the more established characters. 8th February 2006 - SHORT FILM LASTING LONG TIME
Short film success continues

The Super Shorts Film Festival is continuing to tour the country with new dates added for Glasgow, Oxford, Cardiff and London. The tour - which features Straitjacket sketch 'Sauce', kicks off in London and Oxford and continues up until March 8th. Meanwhile this website continues to grow, attracting a regular stream of over 1,000 visitors per month. Thanks to everyone for their continued support.
